shams celebration event
SHAMS was a site-specific digital art performance presented inside the Crow Museum of Asian Art in Dallas. Created in collaboration with Verdigris Ensemble, Sahba Aminikia, Lightware Labs, Courtney Ware, and Bruce Wood Dance, the immersive experience transformed the museum’s ceilings and walls into a moving tapestry of light, pattern, and sound. Drawing inspiration from Persian poetry and traditional themes, the work explored transformation, cultural identity, and human connection through synchronized digital projection and music.

Created in collaboration with Verdigris Ensemble, Sahba Aminikia, Lightware Labs, Courtney Ware, and Bruce Wood Dance, SHAMS was an hour-long immersive performance at Dallas’s Moody Performance Hall. The work blended digital art, music, film, and movement through synchronized projection across the stage backdrop and scrim, transforming the concert hall into a living, multisensory experience of light, sound, and storytelling.
SHAMS Performance 2025
SHAMS is a powerful, multi-sensory choral performance by Verdigris Ensemble that explores the transformative relationship between the poet Rumi and his spiritual mentor, Shams Tabrizi. Featuring Rumi’s original Farsi poetry set to music by Iranian-born composer Sahba Aminikia, conducted and produced by Sam Brukhman, the show blends Middle Eastern and Western musical traditions in an immersive, emotionally resonant experience.
Sara had the honor of creating original visual artwork for the production, which was brought to life on stage through a stunning real-time projection collaboration with Courtney Ware of Lightware Labs. Together, they wove illustration and light into the musical narrative—enhancing the story's depth and spiritual themes with motion and color.
Choreography by Bruce Wood Dance added a dynamic physical layer to the performance, which premiered at the Moody Performance Hall in May 2025 with over 1,000 tickets sold across it’s three days.
Sara also produced the merchandise for the show, including two silk satin scarf designs and two limited edition, signed prints.
